Famous
Hong Kong noodle house Mak’s Chee has landed in the heart of KL – Pavilion Elite.
This is one of the must-stop places in any Hong Kong food trail. So let us check
out if Mak Chee at Pavilion has also inherited the famous taste of Hong Kong.
We
ordered the beef brisket and wonton noodle soup plus beef brisket and dumpling noodle
(dry). You may choose a small or large bowl with difference of only RM2. The soup
from the beef brisket noodle was very richly flavorful, thicker than the famed
Mak Chee wonton soup, but very good at its own right. The noodles were very
springy and crunchy just like in Hong Kong. By the way, if you are looking for the wonton and dumpling, its hidden underneath the noodles.
We
also wanted to try Mak’s Chee lunch promotion of luncheon meat, egg and rice
for RM12.90, plus RM3 (original price RM7.9) for additional iced milk tea as
part of the promotion. The luncheon meat was no ordinary luncheon meat, it is one of best I have eaten, not too
salty, absolutely tender in the middle and very flavorful with that special
kind luncheon taste – you know what I mean.
Here at Mak’s Chee in Pavilion, each plate of luncheon meat and egg rice is served with bowl of specially blended soy sauce, not like the usual soy sauce you find on the restaurant table. This special blend of soy sauce was not salty but absolutely spot-on in taste to have with your egg and rice! The wonton had a crunchy prawn inside each, but I found the taste not as flavorsome as the ones we tried in Hong Kong.

The
ice milk tea we had Mak’s Chee tasted like it was imported straight from Hong
Kong. The taste of the drink is not diluted by the ice you usually put into the
tea, instead it is served inside a bucket of ice. We also tried the osmanthus
tea, which actually came in a tea bag but you could really smell the aroma of
osmanthus – a good choice too.
The cost of each large bowl of noodle was around RM16 and the lunch promotion rice was RM12.9 – most definitely cheaper than eating it in Hong Kong. I would surely go back for seconds to try other items on their menu.
