Putien @ Sunway Velocity, Cheras

Finally, it has arrived at the heart of KL – Putien, the one Michelin star Chinese restaurant. I had my hopes high the moment we stepped into the restaurant. The dynamic duo was there for lunch so we did not try a wide variety of the dishes but what we did try were all their signature dishes and were all par excellence. The service was pleasant, fast and efficient, with well-trained staff. The first dish we tried was “siong tong yin choy with ham tan” which means spinach in superior broth, salted egg and century egg. I have never had this dish in this combination before but it was a wonderful and amazing combination of tastes, every spoonful of broth and salted egg had just the right amount of rich flavor but without the salted egg being too over-powering. This was a WOW dish. Goes without saying we slurped up every morsel of the broth.     Next, we had the baked sesame buns with pork. The bun was crispy on the outside and the sesame added a real nice taste to it. But the pork

Best café in Seremban uptown

The verdict is out. The best café in Seremban uptown S2 according to these carefully selected criterias: 1.      Connectivity of wifi (it has to be free and unlimited) 2.     Food and drinks 3.     Ambience 4.       Price and Freebies (because we are Malaysians!) 5.       Service Whale Time Café   Wifi was good, free and unlimited. Food was however only average, even a bit below average. However, they have a wide selection of gourmet teas to choose from. Ambience was good and quiet, with the color scheme of the whole place being relaxing and welcoming. Prices were slightly higher than the others around though. Service was good with free refill of hot water for your tea even before being asked. There have some sort of system to collect stamps for discounts.  Coffeeholic Its nearby rival Coffeeholic scores high too in terms of wifi connectivity, free and unlimited. Food and drinks were also on the average side but probably better than Whale Time Café – the cr

Heart of worship

Not in so much as raised voices Not in so much as raised hands Not in so much as melodious songs Not in so much as pristine hymns Have you cried out to the lord From your soul, deep within your heart From your everything inside, deep to your bones Then felt safe and consoled within the Lord’s arm Have you committed all that you are and all that you do To the Almighty Lord For you have been chosen as a royal priest, a holy nation, God’s special possession 1 Peter 2:9 Have you lived a life worthy of the Lord To be recognized as the children of God In everything that you do For by the grace and mercy of the Lord you have been qualified Let us not respond to the Lord only in songs Let us not respond to the Lord with hearts hardened Let us respond to all the Lord is with our hearts, soul and mind In all that we do, in all that we are we give praise unto Him That is the Heart of my worship

Finding the Light

4 years ago I was affected by ill-health. And it all come one after the other with seemingly no end. From insomnia, to gluten-intolerance and bloatedness, to leg pain and super-sensitivity to sun light. The most heart-stricken of all is all these seem to strike at the heart of the all the things that I loved the most in life - I was a known narcoleptic (loved to lay back and sleep!), loved pastries and bread, loved to hike, nature and outdoors. In the span of 4 years I was reduced to having to hide indoors in darkness, covering up my face with broad hats whenever I go out, walking only short distances before the leg pain came again. When I was asked to give speeches I worry will I be able to stand for the whole time? Do I need to request a chair from the organizers? When I am going to any new place, even in doors I worry where should I should sit to best shield my face from the sunshine coming through the windows. And I would look at pastries that I liked but risked stomach pa

The blessings or blesser?

How many times have we felt relieved God answered our prayers? How many times have we felt honored seeing God’s work in our life? How many times have we been in awe by His supreme plans? How many times have we asked for His favor? As we examine our hearts and minds Are we more focused on the blessing or the Blesser? The work or the Lord who does the work? The answer to our prayer or the God who answers prayer? Remember who God is He is the alpha and omega, who is and who was and who is to come, the almighty” Rev1:8   Full of compassion, gracious, long suffering and abundant in truth Psalm 86:15 Is good to all, and his mercy is over all he has made Psalm 145:9 The only wise God, through Jesus Christ Roman 16:27 He forgave us when we did not deserve to be forgiven God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him Daniel 9:9 He loved us all as how we are God showed his love for us while we were still sinners, Christ die

Seremban and Melaka (Short) Food Trail

Our southern food trail started in a small shop in Lobak, Seremban called Kedai Makanan Shiang Kang. From the outset looked like your quintessential kopitiam. At Shiang Kang, we ordered the famous wonton noodle with char siew. The generous serving of char siew was nicely singed at the sides, you and I know that is the best part of it. The wonton was like no other - it was decidedly the most densely meat-filled wonton I have ever eaten. The Shiang Kang wonton noodle with pork knuckle had meat that just fell-off the bones. We also ordered a separate plate of steam chicken that was very smooth and tender. Food rating 4/5 (if you are not hard-on for super springy noodles)     Next stop, Melaka! We headed for Kapitan Kongsi Hotel located at the newly reclaimed sea-land, off the beaten path of the usual Melaka tourist-filled town center. It was a quaint and pretty hotel with vintage and eclectic decorations. Beautiful vintage mosaic floor and antique pieces were scattered aro
