Greyhound café, an international
franchise of Bangkok’s popular fashion café that serves both Thai and Western
dishes with a twist. Come one weekend we were in the vicinity of Bukit Bintang area so we decided to
give it a try.
As we stepped into the
establishment the ambience was both modern and swanky, with kitchen utensils
used as wall decorations. There were also cute plates laid out on the tables and
a menu with a fashion statement. Honestly tell us what you see on the plate at first
sight?
Though Greyhound Cafe served both
western and Thai cuisine we decided to stick to the Thai menu since this
restaurant hails originally from Thailand. I ordered the chicken rice with
dried chili and eggs, it was marked as a must-try on the menu. The proportions
were quite good, but the taste was nothing quite outstanding. You could
probably have tasted something similar at a less pricey establishment.
Next came the dessert menu, we
wanted to try something we had not tried before. So we ordered the Sakoo Piek,
which consisted of coconut sago with water chestnut, served with coconut
sherbet. It was also marked as a must-try on the menu.
The dessert came with a
generous amount of water chestnut, which makes it crunchy on each bite. But the
coconut shreds make it taste too rich after a while and the coconut sherbet taste did nothing to lighten up the flavor. Possibly this is how Thai dessert is
supposed to be like? But it was not quite my cup of tea.
